Why Cloud Computing is going to Rule the Future of Enterprise-level IT Deployment

Let's compare two scenarios here:
--Deploying a Web Hosting infrastructure inhouse.
--Deploying a Webhosting infrastructure in the cloud.
Deploying Web Hosting infrastructure inhouse
-You need to buy powerful IT hardware, (Powerful Servers, Network hardware ie gigabit switches & routers etc. On top of that you need uninterrupted Power supply systems ie backup generators or industrial-level Power backup systems. All these cost money to purchase & they cost money to maintain throughout the year.
-Bandwidth is a bigger factor when running an inhouse web hosting infrastructure. You need to have a robust self-healing redundant network with enough bandwidth to facilitate hundreds of millions of traffic requests originating from client's websites hosted on your servers (Infrastructure). Without enough bandwidth, your clients are likely to experience frequent downtime.
Remember, robust IT infrastructure of this scale don't rely on one internet Service Provider. You must have a multiple of them and setup an aggregated network to provide all-time network availability and high bandwidth assurance for your business. This all costs money in hundreds of thousands of dollars if not tens of thousands of dollars.
Deploying Web Hosting infrastructure in the Cloud
(2). Let me also talk about a scenerio where you just have to deploy your Web hosting Infrastructure on the cloud like AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, Alibaba Cloud or Google's GCP
As an industry proffessional & consultant, I always & strongly advise my clients to take this path because it is cost-effective in so many ways, especially when clients plan to run a small or medium-sized startups
-Deploying on the cloud first relieve you of the headache and the worries to buy expensive IT hardware and the expensive cost of routinely servicing them. Buying IT hardware costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and maintaining them is also another headache in terms of costs
-Deploying your Web Hosting infrastructure on the cloud also takes away your bandwidth worries. You don't have to sign a multiple of Service Level agreements with different ISPs to build a bonded network, capable of providing enough bandwidth you need to run your infrastructure. Cloud computing platforms like AWS, IBM, Azure or Google's GCP etc take care of your bandwidth worries and you will also realize that paying for cloud bandwidth on these platforms is way more cheaper than having your inhouse network deployed.
BONUS: Let's also talk about security.
-Cloud offers more security guarantee more especially at the physical layer than inhouse IT infrastructure systems. Some people wrongly assume that cyber-security is only concerned with network or application layer security AND yet the truth is when you're running a robust IT infrastructure like a Data Center, you have to strengthen the physical security, something that could turn out to be more costlier to do.
Physical security is your first line of defense against cyber-security threats when running a highly sensitive IT infrastructure . In most cases hackers compromise a system after having physical access to the physical infrastructure & physically inject malware, that enables dubious behaviors like remote code execution.
The most important part of cloud security is at the Server level. When deploying on the cloud, you need cloud security experts who understand this area very well. Configuring firewall appropriately and knowing the right architecture to deploy
Another thing I would like to hint on is the issue of costs when deploying on the cloud
Yes it may turn out to be so expensive especially if you're deploying the wrong architecture that supersedes your Business IT needs. The right strategy is to ensure that you harmonize your cloud technical requirements (architecture) with your business needs. For example if you're going to deploy a simple application on the cloud, you don't need to configure expensive instances that could deplete out your credit card balances.
In a nutshell, what we learn from the two scenarios is that If you're a company that needs full-time network availability to run your IT infrastructure, I would advise you to choose deploying on the cloud than having inhouse system. Costly hardware acquisitions, Insufficient onsite bandwidth problems, esp in Africa, costly hardware maintenance, money hogging power bills to run your inhouse servers; 7 days a week & 365 days a year, And so forth & so forth
